Personally and as a team, we want to win more ball games than we did in the first half of this season. These next couple weeks are going to be crucial due to the decisions that our organization is going to have to make before the trading deadline. We need to play well or things might start to happen that will affect everything. You never know what’s going to happen, but regardless, we need to play better and make those decisions a little tougher for the organization.
Going into the second half of the seasons, I just want to stay healthy. I’m at 1,021 appearances and I need to get to 1,036 to get in the top 10. To walk away from the game in the top 10 of All-Time appearances, now that would be pretty cool.
I’m trying not to think about the fact that things are coming to a close because I still have a lot of work to do to help my team win games. I think that the more you start thinking about the end, the more your mind mentally goes out the door. And I don’t want to be out the door until my season is completely over.
I think it’s really going to hit me when the Winter Meetings come and I don’t have a team, and when everybody leaves for spring training and I’m not going. I think that’s when it’s really going to hit home. It’s going to be tough, but I’m going to continue to work until the very end.
